IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR DONORS

ELIGIBILITY

• All adults

• 16 & 17 year old are also eligible, but with their parental consent

• Should weigh at least 110 pounds

COMMON REASONS FOR REJECTION

• Not having a Photo ID

• Any recent travel to Pakistan, India, Middle east or any third world country in the last 12 months

• Any systemic infection, requiring antibiotics (but it is ok to donate blood after finishing the antibiotic course and symptom free for 72 hours)

• Any medical condition requiring blood thinners, with the exception of Aspirin (so patients taking aspirin ONLY can donate blood)

• Any heart condition requiring cardiac medication

• Uncontrolled blood pressure i.e. systolic BP of 180mm or diastolic BP of 100 or more.

• To bring your PHOTO ID

• Not to come empty stomach, have a healthy breakfast before coming to Baitulilm for blood donation.

• Drink plenty of water in the morning

• Avoid coffee or any other caffeinated drinks which can dehydrate you
