Over the upcoming weeks, we invite you to participate as we fight racial inequities in partnership with Who is Hussain Chicago to address Food Insecurity. Each “challenge” will benefit a community organization that is helping to reduce Food Insecurity. A household is food insecure when there is not enough access to food for all household members to lead active, healthy lives. This disproportionately affects households of color due to the effects of systemic racism. Let’s work together as a community to do our part to fight injustice and help our neighbors.
This week’s Challenge #1: We will be collecting urgently needed items for Food for Greater Elgin. They are requesting:
Please drop off collections on Friday, July 10th at the Baitul Ilm South Building between 10 am and 8 pm.
See the flyer for additional drop off locations this Monday through Thursday and to make monetary donations that our volunteers will use to purchase the needed items. If your family would like to be a collection site please contact email@example.com. We encourage families to become social justice ambassadors by hosting porch drives and volunteering. Here is a sample letter to put in your neighbor’s mailbox.
A small number of volunteers are also needed to help sort and deliver this Saturday. Sign up by clicking here.
